A few years ago while we were at a LeadingAge convention in Palm Springs, I met a rep from “It’s Never 2 Late” (IN2L®). This company has helped more than 3,000 senior living communities and has recently been named as of the top five social engagement tools for seniors.
We were so impressed with this interactive computer system for seniors that we immediately began thinking about who among our senior living clients we would approach to give IN2L a try. In particular, we thought it would be a great tool for residents with memory care issues. That led us to introduce IN2L to a new client of ours at the time, GranVida Senior Living, in Carpinteria, California.
A Competitive Advantage to a New Community
GranVida recognized that IN2L could be a competitive advantage at their growing community situated between Santa Barbara and Ventura. So, they purchased a system with a 50” touch screen TV for stimulating group and individual engagements at their Creekside Memory Care unit.
IN2L arrived fully loaded with a proprietary, easy-to-use interface and hundreds of software programs. It was an immediate hit with both residents and staff at GranVida. They even wheeled it over to their Independent and Assisted Living areas for group games like trivia, a karaoke night, digital puzzles, and for watching TV shows from yesteryear like “I Love Lucy” and “The Andy Griffith Show”. It also turned out to be a great way for residents to connect with their families via one-touch video chats.
“Einstein” Was Featured in a Santa Barbara Newspaper
GranVida’s sales team started calling it “Einstein” and their IN2L was featured in a story on the front page of the Santa Barbara News-Press. Executive Director Catherine Lee, even said, “Our Einstein makes Alexa look like a baby in a baby carriage.”
Ironically, it was a Santa Barbara resident who helped launch the company over 20 years ago to teach seniors to use computers, browse the web, and send emails.
An IN2L Reciprocal Referral
Recently, our IN2L (it’s Never 2 Late) rep invited us to meet Jack York, IN2L’s other co-founder, at a fundraising event at The Forum at Rancho San Antonio in Cupertino, California. At this long-time IN2L community, Jack introduced us to a few of The Forum’s managers. We kept in touch and were later asked to update their website, among other projects.
